New Medicine Cupboards at the Bodenmatt Retirement Home

Ready for the Future

Opened in 1988, the Bodenmatt retirement home in Malters offers 67 residents personalized care tailored to their individual needs. Thanks to the adjacent All’Aria Park, a community meeting place, residents remain closely connected with local residents. Hospitality is a top priority at the retirement home.

To continue meeting the needs of its residents and to comply with legal requirements, the home decided to replace its 20-year-old medicine cupboards. All three nursing stations were completely renovated. A key requirement for the new setup was to provide more space to accommodate the growing number of medications per resident.
Wiegand AG supported the Bodenmatt retirement home with a detailed needs analysis to develop an ideal solution that meets the requirements. This was followed by planning the new nursing stations, and the existing cupboards were replaced. The home also opted to expand the Wiegand Weekly System. New medicine distribution trolleys were also introduced to help simplify workflows.

Thanks to the updated cupboards and modern equipment, storage space has significantly increased. The new cupboards provide about 1.5 times more space, allowing safer medication storage and more efficient workflows for nursing staff. The modular cupboards system can be flexibly adapted or expanded as needed.
The use of the Wiegand Weekly System has optimised care processes. Medications are prepared a week in advance, reducing the workload for staff and enhancing patient safety. Together with the new treatment trolleys, these measures support more efficient daily routines.

Conclusion from Bodenmatt retirement home:

“The medicine cupboards system is a great support in everyday life. Thanks to Wiegand’s distribution system and trolleys, we’ve been able to work more efficiently, and the increased storage space gives us many more options. The process from planning to implementation went smoothly and we are very satisfied with the result!”
