The new workspaces, ward offices, and pharmacies are intended to fully meet the needs of the various users.
SRO AG – the regional hospital center in Oberaargau – completed a comprehensive renovation of its bed tower by the end of 2020. The work, which began in May 2018, was carried out without interrupting hospital operations – a significant challenge for the entire staff.
A central aspect of the project was the creation of new ward pharmacies, planned and implemented in collaboration with Wiegand AG.
Detailed Planning as the Key to Success
According to Marcel Geisseler, Head of Technology, Construction, and Infrastructure, a detailed planning phase was essential. “We renovated the building from bottom to top, two floors at a time. During the planning phase, we invested significant time in user meetings to ensure the new spaces fully met their requirements.”
Expertise and Experience for Modern Pharmacies
Langenthal Hospital enlisted Wiegand AG for the design of the ward pharmacies. “Defining a standard layout was important to create practical and service-independent workspaces,” explains Marcel Geisseler. “Thanks to the jointly developed concept, the pharmacies are now perfectly tailored to user needs. Wiegand’s experience and expertise were crucial to the project’s success.”
The pharmacies are integrated into the ward rooms on each floor, secured with badge-access sliding doors, and air-conditioned to ensure proper medication storage.
Standardized Solutions for Greater Efficiency
The equipment was largely standardized. SwissModul trays with pull-out frames and Wiegand’s push-to-open system facilitate access and organization. “During ward relocations, materials could be efficiently transferred without reorganization, allowing for a quick resumption of operations,” notes Marcel Geisseler.
A Strong Partnership
Marcel Geisseler is very satisfied with the collaboration: “Wiegand AG was an excellent choice. We appreciated their close support, flexibility, availability, and efficient on-site assembly.”
Since October 2020, the final floors have been completed. Staff and patients now benefit from a modern bed tower that meets the highest standards of comfort, safety, efficiency, and ambiance.
