Change of leadership at Wiegand AG

New leadership, same proven recipe for success

The company Wiegand AG has had new leadership in place since January 2023. Markus Wiegand, who had led the family firm since 2003, hands over the management of the headquarters in Bülach and the branch office in Berlin to Jan Trimpin.

Wiegand AG has a track record going back nearly 50 years. The family enterprise was founded in 1975, and over the past 20 years Markus Wiegand has led it into a new era. He has improved the organisation and braved the leap into digitisation. This includes his introduction of new processes and IT tools, the launch of innovations such as the FlexLine trolley system and a whole new product category in the form of SmartLogistics. Today, Wiegand AG is a renowned Swiss provider of medication and logistics solutions.

Jan Trimpin is a pro within the company – and in the market

Now Markus Weigand has stepped back from day-to-day operations. As he hands over the reins, he says: “Jan Trimpin is a pro and I have full confidence in him as he takes over business management. He’s been with us for nearly ten years now and has an excellent track record to show for himself. He has an in-depth knowledge not just of our company but of the market.”

Jan Trimpin began his career at Wiegand AG in 2014 and has proved himself a talented allrounder in diverse roles. He started as a project manager for SmartLogistics and quickly rose to head of the department, taking charge of software development. He was the driving force behind the development of the German subsidiary Wiegand Systems AG in Berlin, where he became CEO.

In 2021, after a restructuring, Jan Trimpin additionally became Head of Distribution of Wiegand AG. He introduced new structures in order to efficiently serve the market and pave the way for the company to grow in all areas. Jan Trimpin has also championed an expansion of the export business. From January 2022, Markus Wiegand and Jan Trimpin were joined by Petra Gloor, Head of Finance and Administration, to form the executive management and lead Wiegand AG.

High-performance leadership team

Jan Trimpin says of his plans: “I’m delighted to have the opportunity to take on this challenging task. We’re going to concentrate on Wiegand’s strengths, placing an increased focus on sales and marketing. At the same time, our goal is to further develop our existing product areas and bring them into the future.”

The owner doesn’t want to stand in his successors’ way

For Markus Wiegand, as he reaches retirement age, it is important not to stand in the way of the new leadership team: “I’ll still be involved in individual projects, especially around background processes and with a focus on IT, development and quality management. But I definitely want to avoid the possibility that the excellent leadership team might feel overshadowed by me in any way.” Jan Trimpin is confident: “We’ve already had a good, successful collaboration over the past nine years and that’s not going to change in the future.”
